We understand that lots of you have other obligations at that time, but for those who are able to join us, here's a big THANK YOU to Rich Lanes and Coach Hribar. McKinley second grade students have had the opportunity to work with Roots of American Music (ROAM)á to integrate science concepts into jug band style music.á Roots of American Music (ROAM) is a professional organization based out of Shaker Heights that was created in 1989 to provide arts programming using traditional music as a way to connect students to our past.á McKinley students have had the opportunity to learn basic music skills from Mr. Kevin and Ms. Sheela over the past 5 weeks.á They have heard banjos, guitars, basses, and more instruments as well as experimented with a few themselves.á The students took their new knowledge of jug band styles and helped develop lyrics about science concepts.á Arts integration is a beautiful learning tool here at McKinley Elementary!
Thank you to ROAM, the Martha Holden Jennings Foundation, and Mrs. Lucas, Mrs. Basiger, Mrs. Grunda, and Mr. Ruzin for making it happen!
